Despite the innocent-sounding name, the Train Station had nothing to do with railroads. Instead, it referred to a remote stretch of wilderness where the Dutton family secretly disposed of bodies.
Over the course of the series, numerous enemies — and even members of the Dutton family — ended up there.
The location was one of the most chilling symbols of how far Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton and his family were willing to go to protect their land and power.
Even in the show’s final moments, the location played a role when Kayce and Beth disposed of their brother Jamie’s body.
In Marshals, however, the infamous location is no longer called the Train Station.
Instead, the area is referred to by a name used in real-world geography: the “Zone of Death.”
This change is more than just a different label.
By adopting the real-world term, the series connects the fictional crimes of the Dutton family with a real location inside Yellowstone National Park that has long fascinated legal scholars and crime writers.
